Meet the Hideout Hostel team! This week its Lauren

We would like you to meet the team at Hideout Hostel Morzine!

We have an amazing team of people here to make you stay at Hideout Hostel the best ever.

This week, its Lauren. Lauren has been working with us since June 2018. She keeps herself busy here helping in all areas of Hideout, From housekeeping, to breakfast, to restaurant waitress to cocktail maker!

Whats your name and where do you come from?

I’m Lauren, and I’m originally from Greenock in Scotland, but let’s just say I’m from Glasgow (more people know where that is and it was my home for many years before I moved to Morzine)

Ski or snowboard? How long for?

I snowboard. Tried skiing for all of 70 seconds two winters back during Feb half term. Not for me.
I first learned to snowboard properly in 2015. Before that I was just a falling leaf pro, and I got by on sheer dumb luck with no injuries!

Park or piste or powder?

Originally a piste gal, who thought she could be a park rat… turned into a powder hound after that RAD winter that we’ve just had. Now I’m worried I won’t know how to ride anything but powder!

Bikes – downhill or enduro?

Downhill – because who wants to PEDAL UP?!

Bike park or skate park?

My skating days are history. I’m too long out of the game to hang out with the cool kids, and I use my brakes on my bike more than I try to huck and pray, so I’m going to say neither.

What’s your favourite off hill activity?

I’ve recently taken up bouldering again, so probably that… or reading books and hanging out with my dog – I live a totally wild life!

Any party tricks?

Unbeaten cereal box game champion since the early 2010’s.
I can also make pretty convincing animal noises, if that’s impressive to anyone…

Random fact?

Scotland has 421 words for snow – which means we are the OG’s of winter slang. (Intrigued to know what these are? Find Lauren at the bar and she will tell you!)

Favourite cocktail?

Real big fan of our very own “Jungle Bird”. Anything that tastes like Um Bongo is definitely worth drinking!

Favourite food off the Hideout menu?

Bang Bang Broccoli. Every time.

What was the last holiday you went on?

The last proper holiday I went on was to Morzine, funnily enough.. and then I just couldn’t leave! The last mini break I had was Cornwall to pick up my puppy, Dunston if that counts as a holiday? I NEED a real holiday soon!

If you can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

ORIGINAL RECIPE IRN-BRU.

Whats your guilty pleasure?

Binge watching awful reality TV shows…and most likely crying over them.

Whats your top 5 songs on your Spotify playlist?

Bacchanal Party (I can’t choose JUST one when every song is a banger)
Janis Joplin – Piece of my Heart
Junior M.A.F.I.A. – Get Money
Mobb Deep – Shook Ones Pt II
Oldie – Odd Future
